The Intelligent Network Black Box Of New Energy Vehicles – T-Box

T-box, Telematics Box, is the remote communication terminal. As the name suggests, the T-box can realize the remote communication function like a mobile phone; at the same time, as a node in the automobile local area network, it can also directly or indirectly exchange information with other nodes in the local area network. Therefore, T-box is an intermediate bridge connecting cars and the Internet. T-box looks like a box, with GPS antenna interface, 4G antenna interface, PIN foot interface and LED indicator light on the outside, and contains SIM card and memory card.

T-box provides remote monitoring services for new energy vehicles. According to the design requirements of the national standard GB.32960 “Technical Specifications for Electric Vehicle Remote Service and Management System”, it can realize real-time data collection, uploading, local storage, and OTA for new energy vehicles. Operations such as upgrades, remote control, and fault diagnosis. In addition, T-box has functions such as GPS location tracking and RTC time calibration.

(1) Vehicle data collection:

In a smart connected vehicle communication system, the T-Box device is connected to the vehicle’s whole vehicle controller (VCU) and other components and system controllers through a CAN bus CAN to form a local area network of controllers. The T-Box collects real-time data and status information  of the entire vehicle.

(2) Real-time vehicle information reporting:

The T-Box device organizes the data transmitted by the VCU and reports the vehicle’s real-time data to the cloud in the data format  specified by the T-Box and monitoring platform’s communication protocol. In addition to the important data specified by the national standard, T-Box also uploads data with monitoring value from the chassis and upper assembly of the vehicle to the monitoring platform.

(3) Remote control:

Users can obtain the real-time status of the vehicle through a  mobile app  and the TSP backend TSP webpage and perform some remote operations and controls, such as remote lock, vehicle speed limit, and electronic fence.

(4) Fault alarm:

T-Box supports self-checking and fault alarm functions, can self-check the working status of the device and the abnormal status of the vehicle, and promptly report alarms to the monitoring platform.

(5) OTA upgrade:

T-Box supports OTA over-the-air upgrade technology, which can achieve software upgrades of the T-Box and remote VCU of the vehicle through the monitoring platform, providing convenience for automotive companies and users. In the future, T-Box will also achieve remote upgrade functions for other controllers based on its software management.
